Why You Should Join Our Free Divestment, Reinvestment and Ethical Finance Training This Summer

Jo Campling

Are you passionate about climate justice, social justice, and challenging the status quo of university finance?

Join our free Divestment, Reinvestment and Ethical Finance Training.

Universities are wealthy and influential institutions, with a mission to advance knowledge and create a better future for all. Yet they remain entangled in a financial system that drives climate breakdown, deepens inequality, and upholds systems of oppression.

But this can change - and you can drive that change.

Take part in this unique, in-person training by Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK), as part of our Invest for Change programme. It's designed to empower bold, informed action on university finance.

Who Is It For?

This training is open to:

- Sabbatical officers, campaigners, and any students or university staff members passionate about reshaping how universities invest.

No previous financial knowledge is needed. Just curiosity, commitment, and the drive to make change.

What Will You Gain?

This confidence-building one-day training will help you:

- Understand the systems of oppression upheld by the finance system
- Build foundational financial literacy, from jargon-busting to real-world application
- Learn how universities invest and how you can influence it
- Develop the tools to advocate for divestment, reinvestment, and ethical finance
- Gain confidence to engage with university governance structures
- Discover how to push for transparency and accountability in university finance
- Connect with a UK-wide network of like-minded student leaders

Last year, over 60 students from more than 35 institutions joined us, representing over 20 percent of UK university students. Find our how it went here.

This training is not only interesting and empowering but it's also relevant to student officers. I now feel like I can make a change and have a big impact.” - Student Attendee, 2024.

Why This Training Matters

Universities hold billions of pounds in investments. Often in sectors that contribute to the climate crisis and social injustice. But we have the power to challenge this. With growing calls for transparency, divestment, and responsible reinvestment, student voices are more important than ever.
