We've made our website accessible because it's essential people with disabilities, bad internet or non top of the range tech can benefit from our content and engage in our work. This is key to our mission of environmental and social justice.
Please let us know if you find any parts of our website inaccessible.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0
To achieve this we have followed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) produced by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) – the web’s governing body. We've generally aimed for a high level of compliance, but haven't followed all of the checkpoints as some are no longer relevant or have been demonstrated to get in the way of accessibility.
What we've done:
Non-text content
- Website has avoided the use of descriptive images - so all content can be read with Screen Reader
- "Card" images have been set as CSS backgrounds
- About page images have descriptive Alt tags
- Rich text images will be given alt text captions
- Form inputs have text labels and descriptive valies
- Few iframes in use
Time-based Media: Provide alternatives for time-based media
- No time-based media us used on static pages
- Where time-based media is used on dynamic pages, captions will be provided
Adaptable: Create content that can be presented in different ways (for example simpler layout) without losing information or structure
- Semandit Markup is used to designate headings, lists and emphasized text
- Text labels are associated with form input elements
- Reading and navigation order is logical and intuitive
- Instructions do not rely upon shape size or visual location
- Instructions do not rely upon sound
- Orientation of web content not restricted to only portrait or landscape
Distinguishable: Make it easier for users to see and hear content including separating foreground from background
- (A) Color is not used as the sole method of conveying content or distinguishing visual elements.

- (AA) The website is readable and functional when the page is zoomed to 200%
- (AA) If the same visual presentation can be made using text alone, an image is not used to present that text.
- (AAA) Text is used within an image only for decoration (image does not convey content) OR when the information cannot be presented with text alone.
- (AA) Content that requires horizontal scrolling, such as data tables, complex images (such as maps and charts), toolbars, etc. are exempted.
- (AA) A contrast ratio of at least 3:1 is present for differentiating graphical objects
