Teach the Teacher has been up and running in schools across the UK for a whole year and we wanted to take a moment to look back and celebrate some of our favourite memories, and the hard work of some of the schools, teachers and young people we’ve had the privilege of being able to work with.
ACT Teaching Citizenship Conference, 29 June 2023
Django and Jack were thrilled to attend the Association for Citizenship Teachings’ Teaching Citizenship Conference at UCL last summer. Django helped open the conference by speaking on a panel about the youth perspective on the importance of climate education, before running a Teach the Teacher session for attendees. We learned lots about the amazing work already happening by Citizenship teachers across the UK!
Festival of Education, 6-7 July 2023
We attended the two day Festival of Education at Wellington College where Jack and Katie got to meet lots of teachers from across the UK to talk to them about climate education, and speak about not only Teach the Teacher but also our other Green Schools Revolution work (Climate Action Plans and Wilding Schools). We spent the two days with some amazing staff from the likes of Lets Go Zero to Chester Zoo. And the weather wasn’t bad either!
Beaumont School
It was a pleasure to work with students from Beaumont School in St. Albans, supporting them to deliver their Teach the Teachersession in school. Rosie, Tilly and Izzy were confident and enthusiastic from our very first meeting, and managed to get senior leaders from their school to attend their session too! Running their Teach the Teacher session around COP28 they also kindly wrote a blog about their experience in the campaign which we took to show to policy makers from around the world. Well done!
South Lanarkshire Council
It was so lovely to work alongside South Lanarkshire council and to see their commitment to climate education by bringing Teach the Teacher to every school in their area! We worked alongside staff from the council to run a huge onboarding call for all schools from the area at once, and the students and teachers who attended met us with tonnes of enthusiasm and energy for climate education! It’s always inspiring for us to see the passion for climate education happening all around the UK, and to be able to facilitate opportunities like ours for students.
And there’s so many more young people, teachers, schools, and other organisations that we’ve had the pleasure of working with!
