Mental Health Awareness Week

Hosted by the Mental Health Foundation, Mental Health Awareness Week 2019 will take place from Monday 13 to Sunday 19 May 2019.

As part of Students for Trees, we will be offering small grants to our Tree Charter Branches to encourage students to enjoy the outdoors during this week. There is a lot of research highlighting that time spent in nature can reduce mental and physical health risks. Natural England's report on the link between natural environments and mental health says that time spent in nature can help to alleviate stress and depression, improve our mood and help our minds restore. As this week falls into many institutions exam period, we want to support you to run events encouraging students to take a break and enjoy time in nature.
