Students for Trees

Woods and trees are part of our daily lives even if we don't always realise it. We want to protect, enhance and celebrate woods and trees on our campuses and/or around colleges and universities. NUS and The Woodland Trust are working in partnership for the next three years and we want to see;

  • change in attitudes towards trees and woods in the local environment
  • Students learning about the heritage value of woods and trees
  • Support students to actively cherish and protect trees by setting up local student Charter Branches
  • Provide advice and resources for student-led projects
  • Inspire students to run activities as part of an annual "Tree Day"

Whether you are a student, student society, students' union or a university, there are plenty of events and activities for you to be involved in throughout the year and we are excited to start a student movement around woods, trees and people. The project came about through NUS working to ensure young people's views were heard when the Woodland Trust and 80 other organisations were developing the new Charter for Woods, Trees and People. We now want to ensure that each principle of the Charter is upheld to ensure our woods and trees are protected and enhanced over the years.
