Partnerships and Awards

The new Fairtrade Universities & Colleges award has now been awarded to 13 partnerships across our pilot year (2017-18) and nationwide launch in 2018-19.

An incredible array of activity has been recorded across areas such as procurement, campaigning, policy and leadership, with both staff and students involved in leading their submissions and taking action on campus. 25 students have been trained to undertake the audits, resulting in the following award levels being accredited to each partnership displayed along with the year in which they were accredited:

Working Towards Accreditation:

Fairtrade University or College Award:
The University of Brighton and their Students’ Union (2018)
University of Wales - Trinity St David’s and their Students’ Union (2018)
Nottingham Trent University and their Students’ Union (2019)
University of Worcester and their Students’ Union (2019)

Fairtrade University or College 1 Star Award:
Oxford Brookes University and their Students’ Union (2018)
Walsall College and their Students’ Union (2018)
University of Oxford and their Students’ Union (2018)
Forth Valley College and their Students’ Association (2018)

Fairtrade University or College 2 Star Award:
Edinburgh College, and their Students' Association (2018)
Edinburgh University and their Students’ Association (2018)
University of Leeds and their students Union (2018)
Middlesex University and their Students’ Union (2018)

Each award will be valid for 2 years, before partnerships will be re-audited to ensure continual engagement and development on Fairtrade. We currently have a further 17 partnerships working through the award toolkit, in preparation for a 2020 audit, and are currently taking sign-ups for the 2019 cohort who will be audited and accredited in 2021.
